Why Platano Power?
"Plátano power" is the phrase used by Dominican baseball players to talk about the strength of their arms when they hit the ball. The plantain has a rich history and there are many ways to cook, it's one of the most representative dishes of our Island, because it was crucial for survive to the colonization and to the slavery.
About the host:
Elka Diaz was born and raised in the Dominican Republic and describes herself as an explorer and wanderer. She has lived in countries all around the world, from Thailand to Germany and many places in between. She has been in the United States for just about a year and enjoys sharing her culture through her cooking, dance and visual arts.
